Rooted in Conservation, Hand-Grown with a Mission.

Our Mission

Our mission is to grow great-tasting rice that protects endangered species, preserves vulnerable forests and supports Wildlife-Friendly® farmers so that we can save earth’s most precious resources.

Our Vision

We envision a world where people, wildlife and nature can coexist and thrive.

Food production doesn’t have to cost the Earth.

Over 80% of forests globally have already degraded because of human activities, with agriculture and logging being the biggest drivers to deforestation, animal extinction and biodiversity loss. The rapid rate in which our intact forests are being destroyed means that half of what currently remains will be gone by 2100.

Conservation enterprise models like ours are changing that.

Our Conservation Roots

IBIS Rice was launched as a conservation enterprise by the Wildlife Conservation Society when conservationists discovered how endangered wildlife, like the Giant Ibis, were competing with humans in one of the last remaining ecosystems of its kind. By building sustainable solutions with forest farmers, we are now able to improve the state of their habitat, proving that farming communities and wildlife can coexist.

Our Farmers

At the heart of IBIS Rice are our farming communities. We work exclusively with organic farming communities located in and around Cambodia’s wildlife sanctuaries that are committed to conservation. Recognising their central role in the future of forests, we are dedicated to empowering these communities while lifting them out of poverty so that they can continue to preserve vulnerable wildlife.

Our Products

IBIS Rice is an award-winning variety of jasmine, hand-grown in a unique and pristine environment. Our farmers plant just one crop per year allowing it to mature slowly into the finest quality, fragrant, long-grain rice known locally as Phka Rumdoul. Our farmers grow our rice to the strictest organic standards and certified Wildlife-Friendly®.

Our Conservation Roots

IBIS Rice was launched 2009 by the Wildlife Conservation Society when conservationists discovered how endangered animals, like the Giant Ibis, were competing with humans for the same prized natural resources in one of the last remaining ecosystems of its kind. By building sustainable solutions with forest farmers, we are now able to improve the state of their habitat, proving that farming communities and wildlife can coexist.

Meet Our Farmers

We are dedicated in empowering sustainable farmers that are passionate about safeguarding the environment. That’s why we partner exclusively with certified Wildlife-Friendly® forest farmers who are committed to preserving the environment through a shared commitment of  zero deforestation, zero poaching and zero chemicals.

Our Products

Certified Organic, IBIS Rice is grown by hand on Cambodia’s northern plains, where mineral-rich waters run off the Dangrek Mountains. In this unique environment, our farmers plant just one crop per year, allowing it to mature slowly into the finest quality, fragrant, long-grain jasmine rice—a truly Cambodian variety known locally as Phkar Romduol.
